Nestlé Nigeria has reassured Nigerian parents and caregivers that infant formula products sold in the country are safe for consumption and not part of a voluntary and precautionary recall of specific batches announced in some countries.
The clarification comes as news of the recall in certain markets raised questions among Nigerian consumers about the safety of locally available Nestlé infant formula brands.
“We would like to clarify that Infant Formula sold by Nestlé Nigeria is not part of the voluntary and precautionary recall of specific batches of Infant Formula announced in some countries,” the company stated in an official communication.
Nestlé Nigeria emphasized that all infant formula products sold in Nigeria and officially registered with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) remain unaffected by the recall.
The company specifically confirmed that all SMA product ranges, including SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2, and SMA Gold 3, as well as the complete NAN product portfolio comprising NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2, and NAN Optipro 3, are safe for consumption.
“The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, are our top priorities,” Nestlé Nigeria assured consumers.
The statement aims to address parental concerns and prevent unnecessary anxiety among families relying on these infant nutrition products. By clarifying that Nigerian products fall outside the scope of the international recall, Nestlé Nigeria seeks to maintain consumer confidence while demonstrating transparency about global product safety developments.
Parents and caregivers can continue using SMA and NAN infant formula products purchased through authorized Nigerian retail channels with confidence that these products meet all safety and quality standards as verified by NAFDAC, Nigeria’s food and drug regulatory authority.
